The exciting young French classical guitar virtuoso, Gaëlle Solal, has performed in more than thirty countries and at such prestigious festivals and in such revered halls as: Festival dIle de France, Noches en los Reales Alcázares (Sevilla), Festival d'Avignon, Festival Montpellier-Radio France, Salle Cortot (Paris), Zellerbach Hall (Berkeley), Tsuda Hall, Nikkei Hall, Oji Hall in Tokyo, and Merkin Concert Hall (NY).
At fourteen Ms. Solal won three gold medals at the Conservatoire de Marseilles. As best student on all instruments she also was awarded the Prix de la Ville de Marseille. Ms. Solal has won top prizes in numerous international competitions, including: Alessandria, Italy (first prize), Locquémeau, France (first prize), Savona, Italy (first prize), and Sernancelhe, Portugal (first prize).
Gaelle Solal has performed with the Berkeley Symphony, the Garde Républicaine Orchestra and the Philharmonic Turin Orchestra. Most recently in the U.S.A., Ms. Solal's captivating artistry and energetic performances were one of the highlights of the prestigious 2011 Guitar Foundation of America Festival. Ms. Solal's June 2, 2012 Classical Guitar Weekend recital will be her Cleveland, Ohio debut.

An ardent proponent of new music, Gaelle Solal has premiered many new works for guitar, including the new Concerto of Maurice Ohana, the Double Concerto by Naomi Sekiya with Kent Nagano in Berkeley and three new compositions at Cordoba Guitar Festival in 2006. Also a consummate teacher, Gaëlle Solal has taught at both the Superior Conservatories of Cordoba and Sevilla in Spain and presented master classes and adjudicated at international competitions around the world.
Gaëlle Solal began her classical guitar studies at the age of six under René Bartoli. She then studied with Alberto Ponce at Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Paris, Roberto Aussel at Musikhochscule Köln (Germany) and Alvaro Pierri at Université du Québec à Montréal (Canada).
