Overview: Offered here is a very rare, very powerful classical guitar by German master Matthias Dammann. This guitar has had two owners: The first, Grammy award winning classical guitarist David Russell; the second, classical guitarist Román González. David Russell writes:
"This was the second Dammann I owned, and I used it for several years. I recorded my 2001 Telarc CD, David Russell Plays Baroque Music, on this guitar and played numerous concerts on it. I then sold this guitar to my good friend Román González who used it until his untimely death about a year ago."
This noble concert guitar has a magnificent clear dark amber sound throughout all registers; very strong fundamental tones and lovely complimentary overtones, a very fast response to large and small changes in dynamics and attack; and an unusually comfortable neck profile and action set up. The addition of a twentieth first string fret is an added bonus.
Included with the sale of this guitar is a letter of provenance and copy of the CD, David Russell Plays Baroque Music, both signed by David Russell.
Materials: Beautiful CSA sides and back, ced./Nomex/ced. soundboard, moderately elevated ebony fingerboard, Sloane tuning machine heads, 20th first string fret, French polish of shellac finish, 650mm string length, hard shell case.
