One of the largest and most prestigious annual American guitar events—the Cleveland International Classical Guitar Festival—is set to take place at the Cleveland Institute of Music from May 28-31. This marks the festival’s 15th year, and once again it truly lives up to its “International” tag, offering master classes and concerts by an impressive array of classical guitarists from around the world, including the CIM’s own Jason Vieaux (US, performing with fellow CIM faculty member, harpist Yolanda Kondonassis), Ricardo Gallen (Spain), Paul Galbraith (Scotland), Duo Melis (Alexis Muzurakis, Greece; Susana Prieto, Spain), Antonis Hatzinikolaou, (Greece; he’s making his U.S. debut) , Pavel Steidl (Czech Republic), lute master Nigel North (England), and Colin Davin (US).
Canadian master guitar builder Joshia de Jonge will be offering a workshop, and Guitars International is hosting an afternoon/evening “Exhibition and Demonstration of Fine Contemporary Guitars” by some of the world’s preeminent luthiers.
